The success of Harcourts Grenadier over the last couple of decades, since its inception in 1991, has much to do with the vision and team approach of founder and current CEO Robert McCormack. Harcourts Grenadier’s continued success is due to having partners and team members that share the same vision and direction – working for the good of company, whilst making their clients, and in turn themselves, successful.
Harcourts Real Estate Ltd was formed in 1985 after the merging of
‘Harcourt and Co’ with Collins Real Estate. In its first year, Robert McCormack became the number one agent for Harcourts and six years later in 1991, he founded Harcourts Grenadier.
A company renowned for its innovation and drive, Harcourts Grenadier was one of the first Harcourts franchises to support commercial, auction and business brokerage divisions, along with residential sales.
For his outstanding work with Harcourts Grenadier and contribution to growing the Harcourts brand across Australasia, CEO Robert McCormack was honoured in 2004 by being inducted into the Harcourts ‘Hall of Fame’, while in 2006 he became a member of the Fellowship of New Zealand Institute of Management.
As a result of the Christchurch earthquake in February 2011, Harcourts Grenadier’s prestigious Madras Street headquarters was damaged beyond repair and had to be demolished. Several of our other
offices throughout the City were also lost in the quake, including the Grenadier Accommodation Centre. Always looking ahead, plans were drawn up to rebuild the headquarters and the first of many 11 metre pilings were drilled into the same landmark site. This was going to be the first building rebuilt in the CBD’s Red Zone. However with great disappointment, that was not to be as the site was rezoned as part the City blueprint’s green frame.
Though disheartening, this major setback did not deter the vision that Harcourts Grenadier would rise again and rebuild a bigger and better version of their Real Estate hub. After roughly four years in a provisional location, Team Grenadier moved into their brand new, state-of-the-art facilities located at 98 Moorhouse Avenue in early November 2014.
With 24 years of absolute success and a great many challenges behind them, the future of Harcourts Grenadier remains as bright as the beautiful city it calls home. Harcourts Grenadier CEO Robert McCormack attributes his company’s continued success down to “surrounding yourself with good people and letting them grow, as people are the key to what makes you successful in real estate and life.”
“At Harcourts Grenadier, we have seven keys to success: attitude, energy, enthusiasm, commitment, dedication, focus and passion. I love the people I work with and surround myself with people I love.”
